Rainbow Distress Ink Blended Birthday Card

Hello and welcome!! Today I am sharing a card that I created with products that I pulled out of my stash to make a quick card that I needed at short notice for a birthday party that my daughter was going to. To create the card I used Waffle Flower’s Balloon Background Die and Waffle Flower’s Birthday Balloon’s Die to create an ink blended rainbow birthday card.

There is a stencil set to coordinate with the Waffle Flower Balloon Background Die that is sold separately which makes it easier to colour the balloons in different colours, but I couldn’t find mine so I decided to ink blend a variety of Distress Inks to create a bright and cheerful rainbow instead. The ink blended background was very easy to do, and you could create a similar effect using just three ink colours instead.

Once the ink blending was completed and dried, I splattered Red Gold paint from the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Starry Colors Watercolor Paint Set with a fine watercolor paint brush. I usually use a fan brush to do my splatter, but I had misplaced it. I really like the extra sparkle that the gold paint adds to the balloons.

The “Happy Birthday” sentiment was die cut from Spellbinders Mirror Gold Cardstock using the dies from Waffle Flower’s Birthday Balloons Die and glued to the balloon card panel. Using low tack tack to hold the letters in place makes it easier to apply the glue and to line the letters up straight on the card front. I show you how to do this in my YouTube video so make sure that you watch the video for more details on how I created this card.
